I am a staff correspondent based in Philadelphia for Bloomberg BNA (formerly the Bureau of National Affairs), a leading source of legal, tax, regulatory, and business information for professionals. I cover legal and regulatory news about Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware for a wide range of Bloomberg BNA publications, including State Weekly Tax Report, Daily Environment Report, Water Law & Policy Monitor, Daily Report for Executives, and others.
Before that I served as special correspondent and bureau chief in BNA's Beijing bureau, writing about changes in China’s laws and regulations that impacted multinationals doing business in China. My China-related work appeared in International Tax Monitor, World Intellectual Property Report, Pharmaceutical Law and Industry Report, World Securities Law Report, and many other Bloomberg BNA publications.
My journalism career began in China in the late 90’s as a freelancer and full-time stringer in Newsweek’s Beijing bureau. I covered the emergence of Falun Gong, China’s WTO negotiations, and anti-American protests sparked by the bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade.
Later in the U.S., I tracked everything from murals to murders as a general assignment reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer, and covered utilities, the Port of Wilmington and banking during two stints on the business desk at The News Journal in Delaware.
Since 2009, I have been a frequent contributor to Knowledge@Wharton, the online business analysis journal of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
